PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals)

I am sure that we have all heard of this extreme group of individuals who believe that all animals are equal to humans and that we should all be vegetarians. Some of them even go so far as to compare the holocaust to chicken farms, saying that each year billions of chickens are slaughtered in order to feed our evil desire for chicken soup(or fried chicken, or roasted chicken or BBQ chicken....I think I'm getting a little hungry now...). Anyway, as I was saying, PETA is aggressively trying to stop the "abuse" of animals. I grew up on farms and ranches, and I can tell you that chickens are not sitting around mourning their fate, wishing that just once someone would ask their opinion on global warming or world peace. Chickens have very small heads and their little chicken brains are filled basically with controlling their body movements, eating, drinking, clucking, and procreating.

If PETA really wants to help save abused animals, they should start harassing the freaks who are engaging in "gerbiling", a process that (as I understand it) involves some sort of tube as an insertion device, an unsuspecting gerbil and sometimes an embarrassing(I hope) trip to the emergency room to recover a gerbil who has evidently developed a "Lewis and Clark" syndrome.

In a world full of wars, homeless people, poverty and crime, I think that the plight of chickens who have no idea that they are being "mistreated" is really a trivial matter. When chickens start making their own little protest signs and marching in little picket lines, then maybe I will consider becoming a vegetarian.

Until then I think I will go fire up the grill, sip a cold beverage, cook some marinated chicken breasts and let the animal fulfill it's purpose in life.
